The Principals
The company's CEO, Robert M. Furek, is an experienced manager, with extensive corporate experience, having successfully managed large companies in the food and beverage industries. Currently, he is a partner of Resolute Partners, LLC, a private equity investment firm. He was the President and CEO of Heublein, Inc., and was responsible for sales, marketing, manufacturing, research and foreign subsidiaries. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of Dexter Corporation, and is currently on the board of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company. He has a B.A and a honorary M.A. from Colby College¸ an M.B.A. from Columbia University and is a graduate of the Senior Executive program of Stanford University's Graduate School of Business Administration.
Dr. Victor Stancovski, the Company's President and Chief Technology Officer, has done substantial research in electrochemistry, electrocatalysis and materials engineering and has managed R&D groups in the US and abroad. Dr. Stancovski received his undergraduate education in Chemical Engineering at the Polytechnic University in Bucharest, Romania and his doctorate in Chemistry from the Technion, Israel’s Institute of Technology in Haifa in 1994, followed by postdoctoral work in Materials Engineering at MIT. Dr. Stancovski has worked with a few fuel cell companies in the development of advanced materials for the fuel cell and catalyst industries.
Peter Pappas, the Chief Operating Officer, has had a diverse industrial and retail career. He was principal of his own consulting business, working with manufacturing, retail and non-profit enterprises on marketing, accounting, finance and policy issues. He has been an Adjunct Professor of business at the University of Connecticut and Mitchell College (New London, CT). Trained as an engineer, he has designed and built manufacturing plants and retail centers in the U.S. and Mexico. He has managed the development and manufacturing of products including automotive sub-assemblies, books, electric motors, nuclear radiation measurement instruments and food products. As an entrepreneur, he has been the chief executive officer of several closely held retail and service businesses. He holds a B.S. in Industrial Management from Lowell Technological Institute (now Umass, Lowell), and an M.B.A. from Northeastern University.
In its pursuit to advance the development of its technology, CE partnered with a team led by Prof. Steven Suib. Since 2001 Dr. Suib has been head of the Chemistry Department at the University of Connecticut in Storrs. Dr. Suib specialized in solid state inorganic chemistry and in heterogeneous catalysis, and published more than 350 papers in catalysis and interface science, areas of utmost relevance for Catelectric's activity. Dr. Suib has also co-authored 28 patents and has an extensive record of contributions to industrial developments. He did his undergraduate work at the State University College, Fredonia, NY and received his Ph.D. in 1979 from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, where he did postdoctoral work between 1979 and 1980. From 1980 Dr. Suib is on the faculty of the University of Connecticut, where he became a Chancellor's Research Fellow in 2000, and was named Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor in 2001.
